Hong Kong-born flautist Ka Wing Karen Wong is a versatile chamber and orchestral player. She is currently a member of the Southbank Sinfonia 2023/24, and has recently worked with the London Symphony Orchestra, Northern Ballet Sinfonia, Scottish Ballet Orchestra, Orion Orchestra, Chipping Campden Festival Academy Orchestra and Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. She had been on concert tours with the Taipei Music Academy and Festival 2023 and Asian Youth Orchestra. She is a founder of the Ensemble Fioritura, as well as a member of Trio de Lumière and Pensiero Ensemble.


Being a frequent prize-winner in music competitions, Karen won 1st Prize in British Flute Society Young Artist Competition 2022, 2nd Prize in Tampere Flute Fest Piccolo Competition 2022 and 3rd place in National Flute Association Piccolo Orchestral Audition Competition 2021. She performed with Klangkollektiv Wien as concerto soloist, after winning mock audition at the Penthesilea Academy. She has given solo and chamber performances in Hong Kong, Taiwan, the UK, the US, Austria, Belgium, and Germany. 

Karen graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Distinction in both the Artist Diploma and Orchestral Artistry Masters, studying flute, piccolo and traverso with Ian Clarke, Gareth Davies, Philippa Davies, Sarah Newbold, Christopher Green and Lisa Beznosiuk. She was awarded first-class honour for her Bachelor of Arts in Music at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, under the tutelage of Ivy Chuang.


In recognition of her academic and music achievements, she received Guildhall School Concert Recital Diploma for exceptional performance, Continuo Foundation Award for Students of Historical Performance and is an Ian Fleming Award holder and a Guildhall Scholar.

Apart from music, Karen is a coffee enthusiast. She holds City and Guilds: Certificate of International Award of Barista Skills and has achieved certification in Brewing Foundation & Intermediate by the Specialty Coffee Association.
