Hong Kong-born flautist Ka Wing Karen Wong is a versatile musician. Devoted in chamber and orchestral playing, she has recently worked with the Scottish Ballet Orchestra, Northern Ballet Sinfonia, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Orion Orchestra, Chipping Campden Festival Academy Orchestra, La Nuova Musica and several Guildhall Orchestras. She had been on Asia concert tours with the 28th and 29th Asian Youth Orchestra. She is member of the Ensemble Fioritura, Trio de Lumière and Pensiero Ensemble.


Being a frequent prize-winner in music competitions, Karen won 1st Prize in British Flute Society Young Artist Competition 2022, 2nd Prize in Tampere Flute Fest Piccolo Competition 2022 and 3rd place in National Flute Association Piccolo Orchestral Audition Competition 2021. In September 2022, she performed Mozart Flute Concerto in D Major with Klangkollektiv Wien in Austria, after winning mock audition at the Penthesilea Academy. She has given solo and chamber performances in Hong Kong, London, Oxford, Birmingham, Eastry, Faversham, Aylesbury, Lewes, Brighton, New York and Berlin.

Karen gained Masters in Orchestral Artistry (Distinction) at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She is pursuing Artist Diploma at Guildhall, studying flute, piccolo and Baroque flute with Ian Clarke, Gareth Davies, Philippa Davies, Sarah Newbold, Christopher Green and Lisa Beznosiuk. She was awarded first-class honour for her Bachelor of Arts in Music at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, under the tutelage of Ivy Chuang.


In recognition of her academic and music achievements, she received Guildhall School Concert Recital Diploma for exceptional performance, Continuo Foundation Award for Students of Historical Performance and is an Ian Fleming Award holder. 

Apart from music, Karen is a coffee enthusiast. She holds City and Guilds: Certificate of International Award of Barista Skills and has achieved certification in Brewing Foundation & Intermediate by the Specialty Coffee Association.
